SIP Info SIP Info
SIP Info method extensions are used to provide control information that relates to the communication session. SIP Info can be used to convey mid-session information that relates to the application layer. For example, this information could be DTMF tones generated from a telephone keypad during a call. DTMF tones may be used to allow users to interact with an automated system (for example to make menu selections or for entering account information). The Info method could also be used to convey non-streaming information between the users in a session. This includes insertion of new media such as a picture that is transferred between the users. The Info method does not change the state of the call, it is simply a technique to transparently convey application level information along the SIP signaling path.
