Policy ServerA policy server is a communications server (computer with a software application) that coordinates the allocation of network resources based on predetermined policies on the priorities and resources required by communication services and applications within the network. A policy server is used to help manage network operation in the event of loss of resources. The pre-set policies define which communication services are critical (such as voice) and how many resources should be allocated to these critical services at the expense of other communication services (such as web browsing).
